Bucher Municipal 
reinforces technology leadership by acquiring Enway

Bucher Municipal is acquiring a software developer specialized in high-precision autonomous utility vehicles. Enway’s software solution deployed on a Bucher CityCat 2020ev municipal sweeper was approved by the Singapore authorities for trial use of autonomous vehicles on public roads in January 2021.

Enway, a start-up established in 2017 in Berlin and with a second location in Singapore, develops software and robotics solutions for autonomous utility vehicles with a focus on municipal sweepers. The company’s solution deployed on a Bucher CityCat 2020ev unit was approved for trial use on specified public roads in Singapore in January 2021.

This approval set an important milestone in continuing the development towards a fully autonomous solution without the need for a safety driver. Enway was included in the “German AI start-up landscape” for several consecutive years and won awards for its software platform.

Bucher Municipal is the technology leader in the municipal sweepers industry. The acquisition allows Enway to accelerate its software development with a focus on municipal sweeping solutions and it enables Bucher Municipal to complement its digital product offering even further, thanks to Enway’s skills and knowledge in robotics.

Enway will continue to operate with its own brand name and in its current locations in Berlin and Singapore. The management team will retain their positions and Bucher Municipal will employ all the current Enway team members. They will report to the Bucher Municipal Compact Sweepers Competence Center.
