No need to compromise with Bucher Municipal Sweepers
With a choice of sizes, configurations and all-electric options, welcome to improved suction, enhanced connectivity, increased comfort, and ever-important sustainability.
Compact sweepers are designed for use in more urban environments with mostly municipal applications. They are versatile, with sweeping capabilities from tiny single track roads to large city centre squares, but which one is better and why?
Size
The C202 is our smallest sweeper. With a height of only 1985mm, it can easily fit into small spaces such as bus stops and multi-story car parks. This small size is great for highly built-up areas that have lots of tight roadways and one-way streets or alleyways. The small size means there is barely any disruption to traffic or pedestrians. However, the small size comes with its downsides. The hopper size is smaller than that of our other compact sweepers, meaning frequent stops to tip and clean out are often needed, especially in busy town centre environments where there is a lot of litter and detritus.
By going up a size to our CityCat V20 the hopper volume is increased marginally to 2m³ while still being a relatively small sweeper. With the V20, we also increased the width with the intention of being able to pick up larger items, and with a more efficient, energy-optimised fan. This is important for being able to lift larger, heavier litter such as glass bottles. Our VS20 has the same capabilities as the V20 with the benefit of being slightly lighter which means it can be driven on a normal car license.
Our next sweeper is the mid-sized C401. This is great if you want the power of a truck-mounted sweeper with the maneuverability of a compact. It is larger than the other compacts we produce with a hopper volume of 5.6m³. The compact outer dimensions, in addition to the selectable four-wheel steering, give the vehicle maximum maneuverability, ensuring perfect directional stability and safety for everyday work.
We also offer large-sized truck-mounted sweepers for a more powerful sweep. These are more frequently used for construction or contractor work, but they can be considered for municipal use on larger roads and highways or when the level of debris warrants this.
Steer Type
The main difference between articulated steering and 4 wheel steer is that with articulated steering, wherever the front wheels go, the rest of the sweeper will follow. This is perfect for sweeping around tight corners such as around roundabouts, curved kerbside corners, or street furniture. This makes it easier to drive and ensures the sweep path is always swept when compared to a 4 wheel steer. With 4 wheel steer, however, the sweeper can turn on its own axle, making it able to manoeuvre and turn around in tight spots. This application is best seen in hammerhead roads and areas that have limited access but require sweeping.
Attachments
Our sweepers can also be supplied with a huge range of different attachments to support the ease and efficiency of cleaning. The most common attachments you’ll see will be the Wanderhose, Supawash, and Rotatlit options.
The Wanderhose is a quick to deploy and easy to store hose designed for litter and leaf collection outside of the sweeper's normal reach, such as over small walls on the kerbside or in and around covered bus stops. The great thing about the Wanderhose is that there is no need for the operator to step off the curb or behind the sweeper leading to safer and more efficient collection.
Supawash is a high-pressure water system, with hand lance and hose reel.It can be supplied with fan and pencil jets or detergent injection to assist in cleaning. Excellent for cleaning street furniture and signs and cleaning the vehicle at the end of a long shift.
Rotatilt can be fitted to the brushes, resulting in maximum flexibility when sweeping, by being able to tilt the brush at an angle. This allows for steep gradients and angled kerbside sweeping.
Alongside these popular attachments, the C401 can be specified with ‘high dump’ which raises the height of the hopper when emptying to 1550mm giving easy access to skips or directly into refuse collection vehicles.
Where the CityCat series stands out however is with its revolutionary attachments. The V20 and the VS20 (both electric and diesel options) are offered with the option of a 3rd front brush. The 3rd brush significantly increases the sweeping width and sweeping flexibility. It can be swiveled to the left or right and is impact protected. For heavy-duty work, the 3rd brush comes in a special robust version that can be used with a weed rip brush adding yet another use to the units. This allows for maximum flexibility of sweeping and weed ripping at the same time, making your job that much quicker and easier.
