It is better to prevent than to cure
Maintenance of gullies is key to limiting the impact of severe precipitation and the key capability of the new Bucher GullyFlex C80
Maintenance of critical infrastructure such as roads, airports, and production areas, depends on good sewers and effective water drainage. To prevent flooding and damage, caused by surface water, gullies must be cleaned and emptied regularly, as blockages occur due to gravel, leaves and other debris.
To target this challenge, Bucher Municipal has developed the BucherGullyFlex C80, a highly specialized vehicle developed to deliver efficient emptying and flushing of road and domestic gullies.
The GullyFlex C80 will be introduced at IFAT in Munich, 30.05-03.06.2022, and the first delivery is planned for the UK market in August '22.
A municipal responsibility
Having focus on prevention is becoming even more important due to the increasing events of cloudbursts and heavy rains. “Maintenance of road gullies is required to avoid excess water on hard surfaces like roads. If the gullies are not emptied, the sewer network and treatment facilities will be burdened with debris, resulting in increased wear and tear and inefficient drainage, sometimes causing flooding of roads or even homes. I think we all have experienced reports of this, in the recent years”, explains Martin Ripp-Jørgensen, Commercial Director, Bucher Municipal Denmark.
"With the new Bucher GullyFlex C80, our range of sewer cleaning vehicles has been expanded with a strong and specialized unit", Martin Ripp-Jørgensen elaborates. “The international debut will be at IFAT, where Bucher Municipal has a very impressive lineup of specialized vehicles”.
“Our customers in key European markets are already showing great interest in the GullyFlex C80, because they work closely with the municipalities, who have the responsibility of road and sewer maintenance and they know, that it comes with a greater cost to repair than to prevent”, Martin Ripp-Jørgensen concludes.
A specialist at work
"The maintenance of road gullies requires heavy duty equipment because of the heavy waste water containing sand and gravel, that fills up the gullies. Therefore, the GullyFlex C80 is designed to be a specialist for this task”, Brian Munk Andersen, Head of Technology at Bucher Municipal A/S in Denmark, proudly explains.
"We have designed a flexible and easy-to-use vehicle, with a strong vacuum system, which can empty up to 8 m3 of sludge from gullies. The tank of the GullyFlex C80 can easily be emptied, by activating the two hydraulic cylinders to tip the tank, and if provided with a fixed tank partition it can also carry water that can be used for jetting and flushing the gully”
"The special feature of the Bucher GullyFlex C80 is the optimized design. It is very easy to operate and versatile, providing an efficient workflow for operators. And of course, it is Bucher's well-known quality that, from experience, provides both high operational stability and operating value", Brian Munk Andersen concludes.
